WH-DO Dissolved Oxygen Meter Working principle:
The oxygen electrode uses platinum (Pt) as cathode, Ag/AgCl as anode, 0.1M potassium chloride (KCl) as electrolyte, and a silicone rubber permeable membrane as a gas permeable membrane. During measurement, a polarization voltage of 0.68V is added between the anode and cathode, and oxygen is consumed at the cathode through the permeable membrane. The amount of oxygen that passes through the membrane is proportional to the dissolved oxygen concentration in the water. The limiting diffusion current between the electrodes is proportional to the dissolved oxygen concentration in the water. The instrument detects this current and converts it into oxygen concentration through calculation. At the same time, the thermistor detects the temperature of the solution and performs temperature compensation on the oxygen concentration.
The electrode reaction on the electrode is:
Cathode (Pt) : O2 + 2H2O + 4e = 4OH–
Anode (Ag) : 4Ag + 4Cl– = 4AgCl + 4e
